First Friday events are from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Mount Vernon. Main Street Mount Vernon will celebrate a “Family Fun Night” with August First Friday. There will be Kids’ Entertainment and family-friendly activities on the Public Square with Knox County 4-H and giant blocks by SPI Spot. Don’t miss the Knox County Knockout station preparing for the Guinness Book of World Records, plus an inspiration project by Millennial Mount Vernon.

Central Ohio Technical College will showcase their new superhero-themed student ambassador program featuring games, a selfie stations, sand art, popcorn and more!


Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Schnormeier Gallery will host LOCALE: Arts and Crafts of Knox County (open through August 17th).


Entertainment will be provided on the Main Stage (on the Public Square) by music students of Yvonne Sansom. The students will open up for the main stage headliner, The Wolves. Andrew & Sarah will be on the South Stage at the MVNU Buchwald Plaza. Cody Cliff will perform on West Vine Street.


See the Food For The Hungry “Tailgate Trailer” on the Public Square. FREE hot dogs for the first 100 people to stop by. This amazing grill/smoker/griddle will be auctioned off during the Food For The Hungry broadcast on Saturday, December 8th. The Knox County Career Center Collision Repair Lab did all the custom work on this amazing “Tailgate Trailer”.

It is a 1968 Pontiac GTO customized for your party!


Under the hood, you’ll find a 6 burner char broil propane grill with a side burner.

In the Center, there is a wood fired smoker.

On the back, it’s a propane fueled flat-top grill.

Tanks are mounted.

Trailer is all custom fabricated and includes a diamond plate tool box for supplies.

It is light-weight and can be pulled by a car.

It has the original dash lights and turn signals



Food vendors will be located throughout the square with a variety of local food.


It is family fun at Mount Vernon’s First Friday presented by Main Street Mount Vernon.


Traffic will be closed one block north of the Public Square, around the Square and on South Main Street down to the Wright Center starting at 4:30 p.m. (on Friday 8/3). Rain location for the band is the CA & C Depot at 501 South Main Street.
