WNZR went On The Road with Big Blue to the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival
On The Road with Big Blue stopped at the 32nd annual Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival 8/8 – 8/11!
We had a wonderful time celebrating the arts of our community.
Several special awards were handed out at the festival.
Saturday night, the Festival board and operations committee presented the Emmett Award, a lifetime achievement award for contributions to the performing arts. The Emmett Award was presented to retiring co-directors, Pat and Sandy Crow. The Crows co-directed the downtown festival for 20 years and spearheaded the effort to restore the Woodward Opera House.
Thursday night, the Unsung Hero Award went to former Festival volunteer Gerry Rensel, who now resides in Pennsylvania. Gerry has volunteered for over 15 years for the festival!
The car show best of show winner was Pat Jackson for his 1954 Chevy CST Pickup truck.

Varsity Division - Mount Vernon High School (1st Place) and Johnstown High School (2nd Place).

Emma won an awesome student prize backpack including many goodies from both MVNU and WNZR. She also won an NIV Student Bible, the “I Am Not Ashamed” DVD (the inspiring story of Rachel Joy Scott at Columbine High School) and TWO tickets to Sonfest 2019 at MVNU. This prize basket is valued at $120!
