The Knox County Fair

 

On The Road with Big Blue – Knox County Fair Edition! The Big Blue Crew is getting ready for the Knox County Fair! The Knox County Fair is going on 7/22 – 7/28!

 

WNZR will be at the Fair all week bringing you show results and highlights of all the activities, plus we’ll feature some amazing kids and tell the stories of our Knox County 4-H participants.

 

Almost 1,000 Knox County youth are participating in shows and exhibits at the Knox County Fair. This year, there are 1,800 projects at the Fair, 715 kids are showing over 1,300 animal projects.

 

The WNZR staff supports their hard work and will be cheering them on. Listen to WNZR all during Fair week for show results and highlights of everything on the schedule. Our Fair coverage starts around 2pm each day!

 

 

WNZR partnered with the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Admissions Office, Kokosing Incorporated and A+ Autobrokers to purchase 4 Hogs at the Junior Fair Sales. Each hog will be processed by Smithhisler Meats and the meat will be given to one of our FOUR ADULT prize winners! PLUS our four winners will receive a $100 dollar Kroger gift card courtesy of Cosby Heating and Cooling!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LJ Harry of Mount Vernon won a 259 pound hog from Aaron McNeil of Fredericktown.  The purchase price was $4.00 a pound giving a total price of $1036.  Aaron’s 4-H Club is Green Valley Giants. (WNZR purchased this hog with Kokosing Inc.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jason Burris won a 245 pound hog from Ethan Wilson from Howard.  The purchase price was $4.25 a pound giving a total price of $1,041.25. Ethan belongs to the East Knox FFA. (WNZR purchased this hog with A+ Autobrokers)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kelvin Starmer won a 226 pound hog from Dreanna Perry from Centerburg.  The purchase price was $4.00 a pound giving a total price of $904. Dreanna’s 4-H Club is Smokin’ Spurs. (WNZR purchased this hog with Kokosing Inc.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Paula Daugherty of Mount Vernon won a 250 pound hog from Cole Starr of Howard. The purchase price was $3.50 a pound giving a total price of $875 Cole is a member of the East Knox FFA. (WNZR purchased this hog with A+ Autobrokers.)

 

The total amount of our hog purchase:  $3,856.25

 

Each adult prize is valued at approximately $1300 (includes sale price, processing, gift card and the 2018 On The Road with Big Blue T-shirt)!

KIDS BASKET WINNERS

Kids 10 and under won a summer sand bucket packed full of goodies including:

Each basket winner also won a Children’s Bible, the VeggieTales DVD “The League of Incredible Vegetables – a lesson in handling fear”, the 2018 On The Road with Big Blue t-shirt and lots of WNZR goodies.
