Sale of Champions – Knox County Fair 2018

 

The 2018 Knox County Junior Fair Sales brought in a total of $790,720.90 (includes Dairy Product)

• That is an increase of $102,764.25 from 2017.

• Dairy Product brought in $3,665.

• Sale of Champions (including the Dairy Product) total was $70,718.

 

 

(The individual sale totals below include the amounts collected from the grand and reserve champions).

 

The Swine Sale had a total of 179 hogs up for sale.  The total from the swine sale was $242,299.50

The Grand Champion hog (and light heavy weight division champion) was shown by Ethan Moore of Mount Vernon.  First Knox National Bank purchased the hog at $14.50 a pound bringing a total price of $3,871.50

The Reserve Champion hog (and light heavy weight division reserve champion) was shown by Bradyn Burke of Mount Vernon and sold for $37.00 per pound and was purchased by Beheler Excavating.  The total price was $9,916.

 

The Market Beef Sale brought in a total of $160,575.60

The Grand Champion Market Beef Steer was shown by Luke McKee from Gambier. Beheler Excavating and Small’s Sand and Gravel made the purchase at $6.00 a pound for a total price of $7,716.

The Reserve Champion Market Beef Steer was shown by Dawson Staley from Fredericktown. John Hinderer Honda Power Store purchased the animal for $3.75 a pound for a total price of $4,852.50.

 

The Market Dairy Sale brought in a total of $71,876.95

The Grand Champion Market Dairy Steer was shown by Taylnn Morningstar from Howard. Small’s Sand and Gravel made the purchase at $3.25 a pound for a total price of $4,897.75

The Reserve Champion Market Dairy Steer was shown by Amanda Annett from Utica. Small’s Sand and Gravel purchased the animal for $3.25 a pound for a total price of $5,060.25

 

The Dairy Market Feeder Sale had a total of $108,250.10

The Grand Champion Dairy Market Feeder was shown by Alexis Bostick of Danville. Fred and Rita Dailey purchased the animal for $4.50 per pound bringing a total price of $2,182.50.

The Reserve Champion was shown by Amanda Annett of Utica. Jobe’s Insurance and William and Carole Small purchased the animal for $6.00 per pound for a total of $3,408.

 

The Lamb Sale had a total of $34,357.25.

The Grand Champion Market Lamb was shown by Alenah Boeshart of Danville. Didinger & Son Crop Service purchased the animal at $22.50 a pound bringing a total price of $2,745.

The Reserve Champion Market Lamb was shown by Bailey Moreland of Danville. John Hinderer Honda purchased the animal at $14.50 per pound for a total of $2,059.

 

The Grand Champion Pen of 3 market lambs was shown by Braiden Bower of Glenmont. John Hinderer Honda purchased the animal for $4.00 per pound for a total of $1,716.

The Reserve Champion Pen was shown by Chesnee Fairall of Centerburg. Riverside Recovery Services LLC were the buyers at $6.00 a pound for a total of $2,394.

 

The Market Goat Sale had a total of $51,097.

The Grand Champion market goat was shown by Lane Mussard of Mount Vernon.

Fred and Rita Dailey bought the animal for $15.00 per pound for a price of $1,155.

The Reserve Champion market goat was shown by Lydia Stute of Mount Vernon.

Dusty’s Ag Service was the buyer at $30.00 a pound for a total of $2,280.

 

The Broiler (Chicken) Sale total was $55,910.

The Grand Champion broilers (pen of 3) was shown by Kaiden Clutter of Howard.

Dusty’s Ag Service bought the animals for $2,000.

The Reserve Champion broilers were shown by Addison Staats of Centerburg.

State Representative Rick Carfagna was the buyer at $2,000.

 

The Turkey Sale total was $8,275.

The Grand Champion Turkey was shown by Case Armstrong of Mount Vernon.

Southeastern Equipment Company purchased the animal for $1,550.

The Reserve Champion Turkey was shown by Brad Wilson of Danville.

First Knox National Bank was the buyer at $1,100.

 

The Rabbit Sale total was $47,725.

The Grand Champion rabbit (Market Fryers) was shown by Bryer Boeshart of Danville and was purchased by Lance Weaver – Seed Consultants, Inc. for a total price of $2,650.

The Reserve Champion rabbit was shown by Justin Zollars of Mount Vernon and was purchased by Alumni Roofing Company for a total price of $3,500.

Junior Fair Hall of Fame Inductee – Larry Moore, Auctioneer
