Sale of Champions – Knox County Fair 2017

 

The 2017 Knox County Junior Fair Sales brought in a total of $687,966.65 (includes Dairy Product).

 

• That is an increase of $41,327.15 from 2016.

• Dairy Product brought in $3,510

• Sale of Champions (including the Dairy Product) total was $74,279.50

 

(The individual sale totals below include the amounts collected from the grand and reserve champions).

The Swine Sale had a total of 198 hogs up for sale and brought an average price of $3.89 per pound.  The total from the swine sale was $212,943.80

The Grand Champion hog (and light heavy weight division champion) was shown by Bradyn Burke of Mount Vernon. Pre-Stress Services purchased the hog at $40.00 a pound bringing a total price of $10,640.

The Reserve Champion hog (and heavy weight division champion) was shown by Tyler McCann of Mount Vernon and sold for $35.00 per pound and was purchased by Shipley Seed Services LLC.  The total price was $9,940.

 

The Steer Sale (including Beef Feeders) brought in a total of $210,886.80.

Beef Steers and Beef Feeders brought in $165,392.80.

Dairy Steers totaled $45,494.

 

The Grand Champion Beef Steer was shown by Annika Adam from Howard. Small’s Sand and Gravel made the purchase at $3.00 a pound for a total price of $4,041.

The Reserve Champion Beef Steer was shown by Kayleen Small from Fredericktown. Small’s Sand and Gravel purchased the animal for $7.00 a pound for a total price of $8,505.

 

The Grand Champion Dairy Steer was shown by Amanda Annett from Utica. Didinger Crop Service made the purchase at $4.00 a pound for a total price of $5,804

The Reserve Champion Dairy Steer was shown by Haley Furay from Danville. John Hinderer Honda purchased the animal for $3.00 a pound for a total price of $4,239

 

The average price of Beef Steer was $2.31 a pound

The average price of Beef Feeders was $3.39 per pound

The average price of Dairy Steer was $1.42 a pound

 

The Dairy Market Feeder Sale had a total of $114,141.05

The average price per pound was $3.00

The Grand Champion Dairy Market Feeder was shown by Amanda Annett of Utica. Small’s Asphalt and Paving Inc. purchased the animal at $8.00 a pound bringing a total price of $4,208

The Reserve Champion was shown by Jillian Bouton of Mount Vernon. Lance Weaver of Seed Consultants Incorporated purchased the animal at $4.00 per pound for a total of $2,192.

 

The Lamb Sale had a total of $27,260.56

The average price per pound for individual lambs was $6.60

The average price per pound for a pen of three was $5.50

The Grand Champion Market Lamb was shown by Annika Adam of Howard. John Hinderer Honda purchased the animal at $18.00 a pound bringing a total price of $2,412

The Reserve Champion Market Lamb was shown by Kendall Hinkle of Fredericktown. State Representative Rick Carfagna purchased the animal at $11.50 per pound for a total of $1,598.50

 

The Grand Champion Pen of 3 market lambs was shown by Trey Purdy of Mount Vernon. John Hinderer Honda and Jagger Auctioneers purchased the animal for $7.00 per pound for a total of $2,702

The Reserve Champion Pen was shown by Hannah Smith of Fredericktown. South Eastern Equipment Company and Hester Woodland Management were the buyers at $4.00 a pound for a total of $1,596

 

The Market Goat Sale had a total of $45,739.50

The average price per pound for individual goats was $10.55

 

The Grand Champion Market Goat was shown by Annika Adam of Howard.

6 different buyers bought the animal for $45.00 per pound for a price of $3,240

The buyers were: GG Feed and Supply, Farmer Boy AG, Heartland Bank, Kalmbach Feeds, Jagger Auctioneers and Nationwide Insurance.

The Reserve Champion market goat was shown by Shelby Tedrow of Bellville.

First Knox National Bank was the buyer at $11.50 a pound for a total of $874

 

The Broiler (Chicken) Sale total was $35,385

The average price was $631.44

The Grand Champion Broilers (pen of 3) was shown by Emma Lucas of Danville.

W.S. Hogg Insurance bought the animals for $1,400.

The Reserve Champion Broilers were shown by Bailey Moreland of Brinkhaven.

John Hinderer Honda was the buyer at $1,150

 

The Turkey Sale total was $5,400

The average price of a turkey was $660

The Grand Champion Turkey was shown by Mercedes Wilson of Danville.

Didinger Crop Service purchased the animal for $1,400.

The Reserve Champion Turkey was shown by Justin Thomas of Fredericktown.

First Knox National Bank was the buyer at $700

 

The Rabbit Sale total was $32,700

The average price was $634.44

The Grand Champion Rabbit (Market Fryers) was shown by Clayton Noggle of Mount Vernon and was purchased by Small’s Asphalt Paving Inc. for a total price of $2,400

The Reserve Champion Rabbit was shown by Lily Rine of Gambier and was purchased by TSO Incorporated for a total price of $1,750
